
Following his appointment as Chairman of the EBID Board of Governors, Cassiel Ato Forson, the Finance Minister of Ghana, met for the first time with Dr. George Agyekum Donkor, the President of the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID).
After a thorough presentation by Dr. Donkor on the Bank’s current situation, Mr. Cassiel Ato Forson announced that, in contrast to earlier losses, EBID is currently on a good recovery path.
“I am pleased to note that EBID has emerged from a period of losses and is now on a strong recovery path”.
The Bank committed $4.5 billion throughout the sub-region by the end of 2024.
The topic of regional unity came up in the leaders’ discussion. Even though AES member states have left, it is still in the region’s best interest for ECOWAS heads of state to bring them back.

Meanwhile, President Mahama is spearheading forceful diplomatic initiatives to bring the ECOWAS group back together and reintegrate.
Efforts are underway to enhance the influence of EBID and promote regional development.
