18 year-old Endrick, a Brazilian forward, was officially presented as a new Real Madrid player by the Los Blancos at the Santiago Bernabeu earlier today, July 27, making his dream of joining Real Madrid a reality.
Endrick, who had already established a reputation as one of the world’s most successful young talents, joined the team from Palmeiras in a deal worth €60 million, including add-ons.
Endrick walked onto the Santiago Bernabeu pitch, wore in the imperial white shirt bearing his No. 16, amidst the support of more than 40,000 fans.
Endrick was legitimately nervous when he entered the stadium. He kissed the grass as he showed up before the fans.
It was a delightful scene as the fans went crazy, as Endrick got a novel greeting from club president Florentino Perez. After realizing his dream, the Brazilian international took the stage and addressed the crowd, trying not to cry.
“Good afternoon everyone. I want to thank everyone for coming to the Bernabéu. I didn’t expect all this, so many people,” started Endrick as fans broke into an ovation, causing him to briefly pause as tears dropped down from his eyes.
“The fans are crazy. I’m very happy, because since I was a kid I’ve always been a Real Madrid fan and today I’m going to play for Real Madrid. I’m here and I’m very happy,” he added, before stopping again to wipe away tears.
Ending his speech, Endrick said:
“I don’t have words to describe what I feel, because I always wanted to be here. It’s a dream and it’s come true. And now, let’s all sing a song: 1, 2, 3…. Hala Madrid!”
Before signing his contract with Florentino Perez and making his presentation at the Bernabeu, the 18-year-old completed his medical exam earlier in the morning.
Additionally, Madrid President Florentino Perez featured how the 18-year-old transformed his fantasy into the real world and welcomed him to the Real Madrid family.
“Dear Endrick, this moment was what you dreamed of when you were a child. We have just seen that that little boy was very clear that he wanted to be a professional and play for Real Madrid.
“You have fulfilled the dream of your life, you had it when you were only nine years old when you shared moments of excitement and life with the Real Madrid Foundation.
“Today you are here with your family and your girlfriend. They want to accompany you on a journey in which you will also be accompanied by the best fans in the world,” said Perez.
“These fans will never give up. They will help you until the last moment so that you do not give up either. This will be your strength.
“Dear Endrick, despite your youth, you arrive with important baggage: two leagues, a Super Cup and two Sao Paulo championships. With a very beloved team like Palmeiras.
“You have become one of the rising stars of world football. Being the only one to win all the titles in the lower divisions with Palmeiras and being MVP of the last Paulista with the first team. We are proud to welcome you to this great family.”
