Every Guyanan Citizen To Receive A $100,000 Staggering Cash Grant

President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali

According to Guyana President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali, the one-time $100,000 cash grant will be given to public employees and pensioners before the end of this month (November 2024).

On Wednesday, November 13, President Ali made the announcement.

He revealed that training has already begun for data collection for the distribution of the cash grant.

According to him, a new software program has been put in place to collect people’s data, guaranteeing a quick and easy payout procedure.

“Tomorrow morning, you can cut the cheque for all of them, because the system is right there…For example, this weekend, we will be in Region Nine to get all the information with the ID cards…Everything is done electronically…The app will be up and running in Region Nine this weekend,” he explained, adding that this process will be done in a transparent manner.

“Inthe hinterland regions, [we] will try to complete as early as possible…You will get your money before Christmas”, he added.

President Ali emphasized that the yearly pay raises for public employees, which are typically announced in December, will not be replaced by the payment of the one-time cash grant.

“Benefits are not taken away by us. We provide benefits. Increases for public employees will undoubtedly be granted before the year ends. He clarified, “That will be distinct from the $100,000 cash grant.”

By addressing societal vulnerabilities, the $100,000 cash grant will benefit all Guyanese citizens to promote prosperity.

In October, it was announced that all citizens who were 18 years of age or older would also receive a cash grant.

This program will put much-needed disposable income into the pockets of many households at a cost to the Treasury of more than $60 billion.

This development will not exclude Guyanese living abroad. These individuals will be eligible to receive their money once they are at least eighteen years old and have a valid identification card (ID).

Since no payment will be made abroad, they must register in Guyana in order to receive their benefits.
