A spokesperson for the committee said that the offices of the Paris 2024 organizing committee were searched by French police on Tuesday morning in the French capital.

Jonathan Firpo, a spokesperson for Paris 2024, told CNN that on Tuesday, June 20, police stormed the Organising Committee’s headquarters.

In order to facilitate the investigators’ investigations, he stated that Paris 2024 is fully cooperating with them.

A committee employee received an internal email stating that the search is being led by French financial police.

The French National Financial Prosecutor’s Office confirmed to the news network that the raids were connected to two “preliminary investigations” into financial irregularities involving public funds and contracts.

According to the financial prosecutor’s office, the Paris 2024 offices and the headquarters of SOLIDEO, the public body in charge of much of the construction and infrastructure surrounding the Paris 2024 games, were among the “multiple” sites that police raided.

One of the starter investigations was opened in 2017 by a French police anti-corruption unit into “illegal conflict of interests, embezzlement of public funds, favouritism and concealment of favouritism targeting several contracts” awarded by the Paris 2024 committee.
