Facebook is planning to rebrand itself with a new name zeroed in on the metaverse, as the tech giant goes under ‘attack’ from regulators all throughout the world over its strategic practices.
As indicated by reports, the organization intends to announce the new name by the following week. Facebook wants to be known for more than web-based media, as indicated by the tech publication.
According to a representative of the organization, they don’t comment on gossip or theory. Notwithstanding its lead online media organization, Facebook also owns Instagram and WhatsApp.
A name change could position the three super platforms under an umbrella brand, like the structure used by Google, which sits under parent organization Alphabet®.
The name shift might mirror Facebook’s directions. The metaverse alludes to endeavors to consolidate virtual and increased reality innovations in another web-based domain.
The idea is to create a space similar to the internet, where users (via digital avatars) can walk around and interact with one another in real time. In theory, users could sit around a virtual meeting table with remote colleagues, and then walk over to a virtual Starbucks to meet up with a friend.
