Ghanaians should support the national team as we turn attention to earning a spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, according to Black Stars coach Otto Addo.
Ghana’s failure to earn a spot in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which is scheduled to be held in Morocco, prompted this appeal.
On Friday, November 15, the team’s hopes were crushed when they drew 1-1 with Angola, leaving supporters devastated and extremely disappointed.
Speaking at a press conference on Sunday, November 17, Addo stressed the need to move forward while acknowledging the frustrations that he, the players, and Ghanaians are experiencing.
“I recognize that people may be upset or disappointed. Although I was disappointed as well, we must move on at this time. The World Cup qualifiers begin tomorrow, and we must prepare as best we can.”
As the team embarks on a new World Cup adventure, he asked Ghanaians to support them.
Ghana is currently tied with leaders Comoros for second place in Group I of the World Cup qualifying table. The knockout stage will only be reached by the group winners.
