
Croatia will soon be granting more rights to foreigners who work in the country. The country is planning to offer remuneration for 60 days to those whose business contracts are ended until they get another line of work.
Work permits issued by Croatia will be valid for an additional three years. More rights will soon be available to foreign workers in Croatia. The reason for this is that, the country will soon change some of the rules that people who participate in its labor market currently have to follow.
Croatian authorities have chosen to offer greater security by offering compensation for foreigners who are jobless.
The new rule will allow foreigners to enjoy a beneficial income for a sum of 60 days if their business contract are ended. During this 60-day time span, they will actually want to search for other open jobs in Croatia.
Because there are currently shortages in a number of sectors, Croatia is taking this action to ensure that no foreigners will leave the country.
Additionally, this measure will assist the country in preventing abuse of foreign workers, who frequently cannot leave their employer. It will help to retain them without having to face any difficulties.

The validity of work permits for foreign workers will also be extended from one year to three years.
According to the Labour ministry of the country, they want to offer an easier transition for foreigners who want to change their job position and also to make it simpler to change employers.
Pension Insurance Institute data show that there are around 143,000 foreigners working in Croatia. The majority of these foreign workers are from non-EU countries, such as Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, North Macedonia, Kosovo, and Albania.
A 2023 report revealed that there are about 30 jobs in shortage in Croatia. Foreign nationals who have an occupation part of the shortage list have a higher chance to obtain a work visa and enter Croatia to take up employment.
