Former Barça Player Justo Tejada Has Died

Former Barcelona player Justo Tejada has passed on at 88 years old. Tejada who was born in Barcelona on January 6, 1933, died on Sunday January 31, 2021. Tejada played an aggregate of eight seasons for FC Barcelona’s first-team from 1953 to 1961.

During these years, the forward played in 194 official matches and scored 92 goals. He won two group titles, two Copas del Rey and two Fairs Cups. After his time at Barcelona, he played for two seasons at Real Madrid (1961-63) and two more at Espanyol (1963-65).

Justo Tejada was one of only a handful few footballers who played the first ever game at Camp Nou on September 24, 1957. He helped Eulogio Martínez with the first goal throughout the entire existence of the arena, and scored the second in a 4 – 2 win for Barça against a team of players from Warsaw-Poland.

He was essential for that amazing Barça side, alongside players, for example, Kubala, Antoni Ramallets, Estanislau Basora, Evaristo de Macedo and Eulogio Martínez.
