France Striker Ben Yedder Under Judicial Supervision Until Trial

France striker Wissam Ben Yedder has been given travel ban while facing trial for ‘a sex act before a young lady’ in the wake of drinking whisky alone in his vehicle.

The player has been accused for attempting to play out a sex act and touching a young lady’s thigh. In any case, Yedder says he is doing his best to recuperate from his alcohol abuse.

According to RMC Sport, Ben Yedder is accused of driving the 2001-born young woman to an underground parking lot, attempting to masturbate in front of her, and touching her thigh.

After being arrested earlier this month in Cap d’Ail, close to Nice, the 34-year-old former striker from Sevilla and Monaco is reportedly scheduled to stand trial for sexual assault on October 15.

His defence demands that the claim of touching the lady on the thigh is certainly not ‘a serious fact’.

He was arrested in a ‘condition of inebriation’ between the evening of Friday September 6 and the early hours of the Saturday morning.

Ben Yedder is under a curfew that runs from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. and prevents him from leaving the Alpes-Maritimes region. He has no option to go out to have a great time, and should not move toward his supposed victim. Additionally, he is expected to make two weekly police reports until his trial.

Ben Yedder was wanted by Nice’s national prosecution office and the attorney general. However, an investigating chamber has decided that he should not be under judicial supervision until his trial.

As he showed up before an investigating chamber on Tuesday September 17, the summary of events claimed he was drunk with a ‘bottle of whisky and coke’ in his car while a small group of young people were nearby.

One of the young women claimed that Ben Yedder drove her and a young man to the underground location in his car and kept looking at her.

As per the young lady, after the male had left, Ben Yedder purportedly ‘attempted to jerk off before her’ and touched her before she figured out how to get away and take cover behind a bin.

In the end, the young woman recounts, she made it to her friends and took sanctuary in a family member’s house and filed a complaint with the police.

Two other witnesses also describe Ben Yedder exhibiting ‘aggressive and drunken’ behaviour, though they were not present after he had driven off with the young woman.

‘You feel all-powerful because you’re a football player,’ the attorney general said at the hearing. ‘You can get away with anything. You still find yourself in a somewhat sad situation for you, when you find yourself in a beach car park, alone on a Friday night.

Ben Yedder, 34, who is currently out of a club, called the claim that he touched the young woman’s thigh while he was drunk in his car “not a serious fact.” According to reports, Ben Yedder has been to Alcoholics Anonymous and has stated that he “hopes to cure himself of the situation.”

He says he is trying his best to stop for good— a move he thinks is the best answer to fix himself.

He has also seen a ‘specialist psychologist’.

The lawyer added that he is ‘totally integrated in France’ and that he is a ‘first-time offender in sexual affairs’.

‘He is one of the top scorers in Ligue 1. He was in negotiations with several clubs, including a French club before this evening,’ they said.

Meawhile, the attorney general believes Ben Yedder thinks he ‘can get away with anything’

Ben Yedder last played international football in June 2022.

Across stints with Toulouse, Sevilla, and Monaco, the currently club-less forward has scored 259 goals in 513 games.
