Freddie Blay And Son Sue Okudzeto Ablakwa For Defamation

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa and Freddie Blay

In two separate lawsuits, former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Chairman Freddie Blay and his son, Kwame Blay, have sued Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa for defamatory publications that falsely implicated them in the alleged theft of state property. However, the MP has responded to Okudzeto Ablakwa’s suit against him.

While Kwame Blay’s claim is exclusively against the North Tongu MP, Freddie Blay’s suit additionally names Media General and Johnnie Hughes as litigants.

Kwame Blay emphasizes that he is distinct from his brother Kwaw and does not participate in the Polo Beach Club’s or any other organization’s activities.

He makes it clear that he has never worked with Loic Devos Jr., who is currently involved in a legal dispute with Press Xpress, one of his brother’s businesses.

Kwame asserts that Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa’s claims that he was involved in a scheme to defraud Loic and that he had stolen state land are completely false and have caused him significant damage to his business and reputation.

Kwame asks why an MP would decide a private dispute in public and cause public discontentment for one of the parties.

Given the close proximity of elections, Freddie Blay asserts that Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa’s actions were motivated by malice and intended to damage his hard-earned reputation.

He claims that the information that has been made public about his sons and family is completely false.

Additionally, the former Ellembelle MP asserts that Media General and its host Johnnie Hughes published lies with the intention of harming his reputation.

He emphasizes that, on his show “Johnnie’s Bite,” Johnnie Hughes amplified Ablakwa’s statements and denigrated him as if he were presenting factual information, further harming his reputation.

However, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, a North Tongu Member of Parliament, states that this is good news in response to the suit. He has accepted two lawsuits that his son Kwame Blay and the former chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Freddie Blay, have brought against him.

The two have sued Mr Ablakwa for abusive distributions, and dishonestly ensnaring them in the supposed robbery of state property.

In a Facebook post, Mr Ablakwa focused on that:

“justice does not always belong to those who are first to seek refuge in the court.”

He also lauded the NPP politician for the decision to take the issue to court.

“They say better late than never – even though I am yet to be served, this is great news after many weeks of countless threats.”

He also said that regardless of the terrorizing showy behaviors, “state capture shall surely be defeated.”
