French President Emmanuel Macron was slapped by a man in a crowd as he addressed the public during a visit to southeast France on Tuesday June 8.
The video shared via social media, showed Macron approaching a metal fence and fastening the arm of a man in the crowd as he welcomed spectators in the town of Tain-l’Hermitage, in the Drôme district of France.
The man, while holding Macron’s arm, then, at that point slapped the President across his left cheek while hollering for the end of “Macronie” – an insulting term user in the French press for Macron’s administration.
Macron’s security detail immediately interceded, handling the man while pulling the president away from the metal boundary.
Minutes prior to slapping Macron, the culprit also yelled, “Montjoie! Saint Denis!,” a middle age call to war utilized by the Capetian regal tradition, which governed France from the tenth to the eighteenth century.
