Georges Elhedery Is The New Group Chief Executive Of HSBC Bank

George Elhedery

HSBC Bank has officially declared George Elhedery as its new Group CEO.

Georges has worked in financial services for nearly three decades, holding a variety of high-profile international positions, and joined HSBC in 2005.

He held the position of Group Chief Financial Officer for the Bank prior to his appointment as Group Chief Executive.

He was previously the Head of the Bank’s Markets & Securities Services division and Co-CEO of Global Banking & Markets.

Georges has held senior leadership positions in Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.

Sir Mark Tucker, Chairman of the Group, spoke highly of Georges:

“Georges is an exceptional leader and banker who cares passionately about the Bank, our customers, and our people. He has a track record of leading through change, driving growth, delivering simplification, containing costs and brings a strong focus on execution”.

“The Board looks forward to working together with Georges as he leads HSBC through the next phase of development and growth.”

Georges succeeds Noel Quinn, who retired after almost five years in the job.
