
The Ghana Football Affiliation (GFA) has relieved Black Stars coach, Chris Hughton of his obligations with immediate effect.
The Ghana Football Association in a statement released on Tuesday, January 23 , 2024 on its site, said,
“The GFA wishes to announce that Chris Hughton has been relieved of his duties as head coach of the senior National team with immediate effect.
The Executive Council has also taken a decision to dissolve the technical team of the Black Stars” it added.
The Ghana Football Affiliation said it will before very long “give a roadmap on the future bearing of the Black Stars.”
Chris Hughton has proactively claimed responsibility for Ghana’s late goals conceded against Mozambique which prevented the Black Stars to qualify to the group stage exit at the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Stars gave out a two-goal lead over the course of about six minutes to draw 2-2 with Mozambique in their last Group B game at the Olympic Stadium in Abidjan on Monday night.

The result has left the stars in third place in the group with just two points, and they now need a miracle to be one of the four teams in third place.
Speaking at the post game press conference, Hughton said,”I take responsibility for this performance and admit my results with the Black Stars have not been good enough.”
