Ghana Airlines Is Taking Off This Year

Ashanti Airlines, a private registered Ghanaian airline, is partnering with the Government of Ghana to operate a national commercial air carrier known as Ghana Airlines Ltd.

Zotus Group Inc., a United Kingdom-based company known for its diverse portfolio of projects, is Ashanti Airlines’ financial and operational partner with the Government of Ghana.

This partnership was in line with the Ghanaian government’s policy of allowing the private sector to drive economic growth and transformation and to help the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) be implemented effectively.

The airline has already obtained its Air Carrier License (ACL), and the Air Operator Certificate (AOC) is currently in its final stages.

In the third quarter of 2023, the new airline will begin operating flights on domestic routes before expanding to regional and international routes, including flights to Heathrow Airport in London (UK), JFK Airport in New York (USA), and other locations.

Mr. Kwaku Ofori Asiamah, Ghana’s Minister of Transport, claims that the new airline will help the nation’s millions of citizens rediscover their slogan, “Ghana Airline-The Pride of Africa.”

Ghana Airways, the first national airline in Ghana and established by the government in 1958, ceased passenger flight operations in 2004 due to financial difficulties.

After suspending operations for some time, the new airline, which will begin operations in the third quarter of 2023, is anticipated to significantly boost tourism.
