
The Ghana men’s basketball team won the fourth edition of the Africa Basketball Festival 2024, which was held at the University of Ghana in Accra, by defeating France.
They were crowned champions and emerged as the winners of the tournament.
Ghana came out on top for the championship in the wake of beating France 62-49 in an undeniably exhilarating final, denoting a critical win on home soil.
Ghana did a fantastic job getting to the competition’s final, where nine other African nations competed.
Throughout the tournament, Ghana’s team displayed their class by going above and beyond. They initially beat Liberia 49-36, who also in the end, got a bronze medal.
With a commanding 56-46 victory over Togo, Ghana maintained their unbeaten record and solidified their status as leading contenders.
Nigeria presented Ghana with a more difficult challenge in the semifinals. However, Ghana went on to win the game by a score of 64-51 and advance to the final against France.
However, with the tournament’s highest score of 72-24, France also demonstrated their superiority over China.
In the championship, the hosts prevailed 62-49 over France thanks to Ghana’s flawless defense.
In the battle for third place, Liberia also won the bronze medal by beating the United States 45-42.

The competition also featured a lot of fashion. Performances by notable musicians with 15 fashion brands also on display.
