According to National Geographic, Ghana is one of the top 25 breathtaking places and experiences for any traveler to experience in 2023.
According to Amy Alipio, a senior editor for National Geographic Travel who was mentioned on CNN Travel, “The hope is that 2023 will be not just a big return to travel but also to rediscovering wonder.”
Ghana is included in the new category “Community,” which was added to the list this year and replaces “sustainability” with a broader “community” category that emphasizes how conservation benefits everyone, according to a National Geographic announcement.
The list of destinations for the coming year highlights places that are fascinating, enjoyable for travelers of all ages, and beneficial to local ecosystems and communities.
As a result, Ghana is being recognized as “an important destination in West Africa for Black heritage travelers.” That said, National Geographic is urging tourists to visit Ghana to explore Black heritage and hang out with a fashion-forward crowd in the capital, Accra.
Ghana Made More Than US$3 billion From ‘The Year Of Return’ Tourism Initiative
This announcement follows a number of others made in the past four years, when Ghana redoubled its efforts to promote tourism with the flagship “Year of Return” campaign and its follow-up, “Beyond The Return.”
In addition, Ghana launched the “December in GH” campaign to make the country a hub for holiday fun and entertainment. Many people of African descent, including Hollywood stars, members of the Congressional Black Caucus, and the NAACP, have traveled to the homeland as a result.
