Ghana has been chosen as the 2026 African Athletics Championship host.
The 2026 Championship will be held in Ghana at the newly built University of Ghana Stadium to act as the host venue for the competition.
Ghana’s successful hosting bid was communicated by Ghana Athletics in a statement released on social media.
The Confederation of African Athletics named Ghana as host country for the next edition of the competition after accepting Ghana’s bid.
Ghana’s bidding team had sports personalities on it which includes: National Sports Authority Deputy General Bawa Majid, Ghana Athletics President Bawa Fuseini and Ghana Athletics Vice President Charles Osei Asibey
This new rights comes in after Ghana’s beautiful hosting of the 13th African Games held in March (African Games 2023).
In addition, Ghana gloats of the best facilities. During the African Games 2023, the country was able to host the highest number of disciplines at the various venues across the country. Ghana surpassed Morocco who were tops during the last competition.
