On March 27, 2023, the Ministry of Tourism Arts and Culture, Ghana, and the Department of Tourism, South Africa, launched a Joint Technical Committee (JTC) of the signed agreement on cooperation in the field of tourism between the Governments of the Republic of Ghana and South Africa at the GTA Head Office.
The launch was in fulfillment of one of the areas of cooperation under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in 2011 between the two countries.
The JTC is responsible for overseeing the MoU’s implementation, which includes the following projects: grading and classification systems, operationalization of the 90-day visa waiver between the two countries, development of the tourism products, exchange of familiarization visits for small and medium tour operators, tourism investment forums and data collection towards the establishment of the tourism satellite account.

The projects’ implementation was signed off on by Mr. John Yaw Agbeko, Chief Director of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, and Mr. Victor Tharage, Director-General of the Department of Tourism of the Republic of South Africa, who are both Chairs of the JTC.
