After a remarkable performance at the 2023 Special Olympics Summer Games in Berlin, Germany, the Ghanaian Special Olympics Team arrived in the country on Monday, June 26, 2023.
Ghana’s team brought back three medals from the competitions they participated in during the games. They secured silver and bronze medals in table tennis and added another medal in Athletics.
Although the football team narrowly missed out on a medal in the football division, losing to host country Germany in the third-place play-off, their courageous endeavors were wonderful and merits acknowledgment.
Addressing the press upon their arrival, Emmanuel Kwabena Baidoo, the Deputy Leader of Team Ghana, expressed his satisfaction with the team’s overall performance, highlighting their placement among the top teams in the tournament.
Baidoo commended the players for their exceptional performance and attributed their success to the meticulous pre-tournament preparations they had undergone.
He acknowledged that the competition had provided the team with a valuable platform to build upon and achieve even greater success in future competitions.
The bronze medalist in the 100-meter race, Zola Marie, thanked the officials and coaches for their unwavering support throughout the tournament. Promising to keep up with the great performance, Marie promised to work steadily to keep taking huge steps.
He is of the firm belief that the team has clearly demonstrated signs of progress and has set their sights on winning the upcoming competitions. Earnestly and steadiness, the Ghanaian Special Olympics Team means to reliably succeed and bring more laurels home from here on out.
