Ghana’s Tourism Ministry Launches US$9 million Grant For Small & Medium-Sized Enterprises

Ghana’s Tourism Minister, Barbara Oteng Gyasi has announced a Grant Scheme of US$9 million dollars to be offered out to SMEs in the tourism sector. The scheme has been propelled to fortify businesses which has been seriously hit by the COVID-19 pandemic.

This is under the Ghana Tourism Development Project, a world bank subsidized project.

Other than the abovementioned, there is the GHS 1 billion stimulus package propelled by the President of Ghana, H.E Nana Akufo-Addo to help Micro, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SME) who have been affected by the novel Coronavirus.

There is also a GH¢3 billion Cedis facility for bigger organizations. All these are accessible to the travel industry. Around One thousand Small and Medium Sized Enterprises are required to profit by the US$9 million dollar Grant Scheme.

The recipients to be bolstered under the plan involve principally Ghanaian indigenous organizations in the travel industry esteem chain, including small scale organizations that employ between one to five people.
