GJA Opens Entries For The 28th Media Awards

The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has opened entries for this year’s GJA Media Awards.

The entry period began on Tuesday and will end on Sunday, July 7, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. The association claims that the filing period will not be extended.

Kofi Yeboah, the association’s General Secretary, said in a press release that the awards were only open to GJA members in good standing. In addition, it stated that entries were strictly to be submitted online via gjaghana.org and that participants were required to submit works published in 2023.

Requirement for entry:

The statement said the competition was available to individuals on favorable terms who were working in the print Including news agencies, electronic and online media. It stated that contestants could not be members of the National Executive or the GJA Media Awards Committee.

The statement stated that submissions could be made for as many as two award divisions and should cover works published between January 1, 2023, and December 31, 2023. It stated that each entry must include a clear, original piece of published work and a clear, passport-size photograph.

In addition, it stated that student journalists must submit a scanned copy of their student identification card. It advised participants to get a good internet connection in order to upload their entries quickly and easily.

It also said entries or nominations should be titled, “GJA MEDIA AWARDS 2024”, adding that “the GJA is not bound to give an award in a division if it does not merit one”.

The statement said the Awards Committee would select the Overall Best Story from the various awards divisions for consideration by the National Executive as winner of the P.A.V. Ansah Journalist of the Year; Best Female Journalist of the Year; Komla Dumor Most Promising Journalist of the Year, and Best Student Journalist of the Year.
