Kenya’s Governor of the capital Nairobi, Mike Sonko is being slammed for something he least expected would burst out the people of Kenya.
In the battle against COVID-19, the politician in a media briefing on the 14th of April, 2020, affirmed that he gave out Coronavirus Care Packages which includes a couple of little containers of Hennessey and cognac, with the Hennessy also absorbing an alcohol as a “throat sanitizer.”
These Care items given to the people of Kenya was relied upon to be normal food items and other ‘battling’ stuffs but instead, a heavy drinker “throat sanitizer”.
Mr. Mike Sonko said in a video:
“I think from the research conducted by the World Health Organization and various organizations, it has been believed that alcohol plays a major role in killing the coronavirus,”
Meanwhile, the World Health Organization has clearly expressed that alcohol doesn’t fight against coronavirus, therefore they are encouraging people to limit its utilization.
Tons people in Kenya and beyond have criticized the Governor for this preposterous mindset. They have condemned Sonko’s claim and have urged Kenyans to dump that “throat sanitizer”.
On the other hand, authorities of the drink outfit, Hennessy has discredited through Kenyan local media the claims by the Nairobi governor that, its beverage specifically the alcohol content when all is said in done can avert coronavirus virus.
Kenya currently has in excess of 230 affirmed cases of coronavirus.
