Great Football, Lionel Messi To Disclose His Personal Favorite Career Goal For The First Time

In order for world-renowned modern artist Refik Anadol to create an unparalleled piece of art, Lionel Messi will have to choose his best goal from his whole career.

The final item, which Messi and Anadol co-signed, will be up for auction at Christie’s, with all proceeds going to worthy causes.

Leo Messi has scored more than 800 goals in his career; his most recent was against Minnesota in Major League Soccer a few days ago. Some are recognized for their beauty, while others are remembered for their genius. Many of them have shaped iconic moments and won important accolades.

Some were scored with FC Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, and Inter Miami CF; others were scored while playing for Argentina. Fans all throughout the world have a particular place in their hearts for everyone of them.

Whether those goals are more significant or more aesthetically pleasing has been a topic of discussion among fans and commentators for years. However, Messi will now choose his own favorite for the first time, creating a never-before-seen combination of football and art.

On May 22 at 11:00 AM ET, the selected goal will be made public on the Inter Miami CF Foundation’s official social media platforms. It will be preserved through a ground-breaking partnership with Refik Anadol, a significant figure in 21st-century art whose data-sculpted works have reshaped the limits of both art and technology.

Charity initiatives will get the proceeds from this historic endeavor, which is anticipated to break fundraising records.

One of these is an education-focused collaboration between UNICEF and the Inter Miami CF Foundation (IMCFF), which promotes children’s access to high-quality educational programs in five Latin American and Caribbean nations.

Twenty-one Years Ago, Lionel Messi- One Of The Greatest Players, Arrived In Barcelona

The final piece, which will be formally unveiled in New York on June 11 by Christie’s, the world’s top auction house, will be signed by both artists and comprise two interrelated components: Anadol’s artistic interpretation derived from the millions of data points connected to that moment, and the purest visual representation of the goal selected by Messi.

“Choosing just one goal out of them all is very difficult—each one is special in its own way, and some are really important or bring back incredible memories. But highlighting one as a favorite for the first time, to make this unique project possible is worth it. There’s a strong purpose behind it, and I’m really happy to be part of it.” Leo Messi said.

Refik Anadol also reacted:

“It’s an extraordinary honor to join forces with Leo Messi—one of the greatest athletes of our time—on a project that supports non-profit organizations, including UNICEF, and bridges the emotional legacy of sport with the future of art. At Refik Anadol Studio, we’ve always believed in the power of data to tell deeply human stories. Using AI to visualize the memory of Messi’s favorite goal is both a creative and ethical endeavor: to celebrate emotion, memory, and excellence.”

“An education is the fuel of dreams. That is why Inter Miami is committed to supporting programs that provide access to education for all,” said Jorge Mas, Inter Miami CF Managing Owner. “We are excited to see the beauty of Leo’s favorite goal through the artistic lens of Refik. This innovative collaboration brings together the world’s greatest soccer player and renowned artist to create a one-of-a-kind piece to benefit our educational initiatives. It will truly be a work of art like no other.”

Led by the Inter Miami CF Foundation, the project “A Goal in Life” —for which the Foundation invited Leo Messi and Refik Anadol to participate— is under the creative direction of Xavier Roca, with artistic curation by acclaimed art expert Ximena Caminos. The auction will close on July 25 at Christie’s New York.
