Erling Haaland’s contract with Manchester City has been extended, according to Sky Sports. Nevertheless, there are no release clauses in the agreement. Since joining City, the 24-year-old has scored 111 goals in 126 games.
He will remain with Manchester City until the summer of 2034 after agreeing to a new nine-and-a-half-year contract.
Erling Haaland is now the highest paid player at the club thanks to the new contract, which is an increase from his previous one, which paid £400,000 a week.
Additionally, it is acknowledged that the contract contains no release clauses, indicating that any prior ones have been taken off.
Haaland has signed one of the longest contracts in football history, which will see him turn 34 by the time it expires. His previous contract was set to expire in the summer of 2027.
The 24-year-old, who joined City from Borussia Dortmund in June 2022 and has since scored 111 goals in 126 games, had been linked to a move to Real Madrid.
Sixth-placed City is rebuilding this month, and a deal has been reached for Eintracht Frankfurt striker Omar Marmoush. Defenders Abdukodir Khusanov and Vitor Reis from Lens and Palmeiras, respectively, are also close to joining.
Haaland, said:
“I am really happy to have signed my new contract and to be able to look forward to spending even more time at this great club. Manchester City is a special club, full of fantastic people with amazing supporters and it’s the type of environment that helps bring the best out of everybody”.
“I also want to thank Pep [Guardiola], his coaching staff, my team-mates and everyone at the club as they have all helped me so much in the past couple of years. They have made this such a special place to be and now I am City no matter what”.
“I want to keep developing, keep working to get better and look to do my best to try and help us achieve more success going forward.”
Haaland has only scored six more goals in the 16 Premier League games since he scored ten goals in the first five games of the season, including back-to-back hat-tricks. In the top-scorers chart, he is ranked second, behind Mo Salah, who has 18 goals.
In his two and a half seasons with Manchester City, Haaland has won two Premier League titles, the Champions League, an FA Cup, and a Super Cup.
City paid Haaland’s release clause £51 million to sign him to a five-year contract; when agent fees, signing bonuses, and other expenses were factored in, the total deal was anticipated to reach £85.5 million.
He joined Dortmund from RB Salzburg in January 2020 and scored 86 goals in 89 games.
