
The Vice President and the Presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has revealed plans to address unemployment through several key initiatives.
According to him, if elected as the President of the country, he will first create new jobs. Dr. Bawumia’s key points in handling the unemployment problem include:
• Create New Jobs: He aims to create jobs through private-sector construction and infrastructure development, industrialisation, and agribusiness.
• Private-Sector Development: Focusing on stimulating the private sector to create jobs.
•Digital Skills Training: There is a commitment to train 1,000,000 youth in digital skills to prepare them for the job market.
•Tax Amnesty Programme: This program is designed to enable industries to finance their expansion, recruit more employees, and energise economic activity.
• Support for SMEs: Establishing an SME Bank to meet the special financing needs of small and medium businesses, which employ over 80% of Ghanaians.
• Job Creation in Various Sectors: This includes creating jobs for artisans, security services personnel, and through the National Cybersecurity Workforce Development Programme.
• Utilizing Government Purchasing Power: Implementing a “Buy Ghana First” policy to stimulate industrial expansion and business growth, which will help create jobs.

These strategies are part of his broader vision to create sustainable jobs and ensure economic growth for all Ghanaians.
Meanwhile, the Veep says, he also intends to provide a Tax Amnesty Program— which will be implemented to encourage businesses to expand and hire more employees.
