Serena Williams has criticized a Parisian hotel for denying her and her family access to its rooftop restaurant. In a swift response, the hotel has apologized to Williams for the denial.
The 42 year-old tennis legend, also included a photograph of The Promontory’s sign with a message shared on X.
“Yikes @peninsulaparis,” she wrote on X Monday. “I’ve been denied access to rooftop to eat in a empty restaurant of nicer places but never with my kids. Always a first. #Olympic2024. You’re Really Gonna Reject Me?!?!”
Although the five-star Peninsula Hotel claims to have “breathtaking” city views, Williams was simply dissatisfied with their denial.
Numerous individuals have also voiced their displeasure with the hotel’s decision to deny the superstar, alleging racism.
For this racist action, some fans have even asked for some workers to be fired. Surprisingly, there are those who hold opposing viewpoints and contend that Serena Williams also acted like an entitled “celebrity.”
The hotel issued an apology, stating that, despite appearances, they were “indeed fully booked.”
“Dear Mrs. Williams,” they wrote in response. “Please accept our deepest apologies for the disappointment you encountered tonight. Unfortunately, our rooftop bar was indeed fully booked and the only unoccupied tables you saw belonged to our gourmet restaurant, L’Oiseau Blanc, which was fully reserved.”
Meanwhile, on Sunday, the ex-tennis player was seen watching the men’s singles final. Together with her husband, Alexis Ohanian, and their daughters, Olympia, 6, and Adira, 1, she has been in the City of Light for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
