In a bid to revitalise the local jewellery industry, Managing Director of GoldBod Jewellery, Gertrude Emefa Donkor, has announced that the company’s rebranding initiative is designed to boost domestic production of high-quality jewellery and reduce Ghana’s reliance on imports.
She noted that GoldBod’s retooling and rebranding efforts are strategic steps aimed at showcasing Ghana’s rich gold heritage while promoting local craftsmanship.
According to her, this renewed focus will offer customers unique, made-in-Ghana pieces and, at the same time, strengthen the local economy.
She made these remarks at the launch of GoldBod’s new e-commerce platform — the country’s first 24-hour digital gold showroom, created to serve customers across the globe.
“We watch our precious gold leave the country while we import finished Jewellery from Dubai, India and Europe. Today, we break that cycle, today we are changing that narrative and that story forever,” she noted.
“Our company was incorporated in 2016 as PMMC Jewellery Limited. In the past few weeks however, we have initiated the process of retooling our factory, restructuring our operations and rebranding with one clear mission, that is to transform Ghanaian gold into world class products right here on Ghanaian soil and to place Ghanaian craftsmanship on the global stages beside the biggest luxuries in the world,” she revealed.
