How MUSIGA Intends To Promote HighLife Music In The World

The Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) says it will be introducing a national annual highlife music competition for all singers of the genre.

As per the Union, this is part of the it’s plan to promote and make highlife music, Ghana’s top genre more salient and famous across the world.

Bessa Simons, the union’s president, stated in an interview with Joy FM that Ghana cannot be separated from highlife music, and that paying heed to the genre gives musicians an authentic identity.

MUSIGA has pledged to promote the genre and is organizing a yearly national competition for artists who are in the space.

According to the Union President Bessa Simons, they will launch a music competition consistently, and the winner will get something exceptionally alluring to make it charming to other performers.

The union will likely support the highlife genre in the Telecel Ghana Music Awards, ensuring that the price to be put on the genre will be very enticing.

This will encourage other artists to put in more effort to create authentic highlife music and produce high-quality music.

Bessa Simons went on to say that Ghanaian music would be heard by people all over the world if the country was able to claim its roots and make it a major brand.

To encourage musicians to include the beat into other genres, the MUSIGA President appealed to all Ghanaians to listen to and support the highlife genre.
