John Dumelo, the MP for Ayawaso West Wuogon, has responded to the practice of MPs using sirens on their cars to make transportation easier while on duty.
The MP voiced his personal opinion on the subject in a video, stating that although sirens might make movement easier, he does not believe they are essential to his job as an MP.
“I was with him in parliament for orientation, but I just left. A Plus says we need sirens; maybe that’s his opinion, but personally, I don’t think I need a siren,” he said, referring to comments made by his colleague, Kwame Obeng Asare, popularly known as A Plus.
The member of parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon admitted that the matter has generated a lengthy discussion among lawmakers, with some supporting the deployment of sirens. He did, however, restate his personal disapproval of this viewpoint.
“I don’t personally like it, but I know some people do,” he continued.
Opinions on whether MPs should be allowed to use sirens for transportation are still divided; some contend that it improves their efficiency in carrying out their duties, while others see it as superfluous and disruptive to the general public.
