“I Was Very Comfortable At Barcelona, But I Wanted To Experience Something New” — Asisat Oshoala On Barca Exit

In February 2024, after 162 appearances, 117 goals, and other titles with the Spanish giants, the 29-year-old ended her Barcelona career and moved to America.

Asisat Oshoala signed a contract with Bay FC, a team based in the San Francisco Bay Area, that will keep him in the league until 2026 with an option to extend for the 2027 season. She has discussed the reasons behind her move in a recent interview with FIFA.

“I was very comfortable at Barcelona, but I wanted to experience being at the start of something new, as soon as I heard about the project at Bay FC, I was very excited. I love what I do, and I make decisions based on what makes me happy. It’s been pretty amazing here so far,” she said

“There are a lot of nice African restaurants, so that keeps me going,” she added.

Oshoala will be leading Nigeria to their first Olympics since 2008 and believes she’s got what it takes to help the Super Falcons.

“I know what I can do, I know what I offer on and off the pitch. Even when I was at the best team in the world, I knew what I could contribute,” she further stated.
