Since relocating to Aston Villa in January of this year, Marcus Rashford has found his performance again. After his loan expires, it seems unlikely that the 27-year-old would rejoin Manchester United.
Interestingly, after Marcus Rashford found his form and happiness again while on loan at Aston Villa, Manchester United icon Ryan Giggs believes he does not see a future for him at Old Trafford.
The Welshman, who was a member of Louis van Gaal’s coaching staff when the forward made his debut in 2016, thinks that if Rashford decides to make his split from United permanent this summer, it will benefit both sides.
Rashford moved to the Midlands in January after being shut out of United’s matchday squads under Ruben Amorim, and he has since established himself as a vital member of a team vying for Champions League football.
Giggs, who recalls seeing the talented young kid in the United academy with Van Gaal, emphasized that the 27-year-old will be “a brilliant player for someone,” but not his old team.
‘I don’t think he looked happy at United,’ said Giggs, who was appearing on the Rio Ferdinand Presents podcast, presented by Qatar Airways, which goes live at 6am on Friday 25th April.
‘I think he looks happier now. Which is a shame because obviously I’d seen him as a part of the staff when we’d given him his debut.
‘I remember walking over to reserve team pitches and just watching him. It was a small-sided game, me and Louis walked over, didn’t really know him”.
‘We knew a bit about him but all of a sudden it was just like, bang, bang, bang, goals. Louis went, no, he trains with us. That’s the impact that he made.
‘And he was just like any young player, just playing with freedom. He doesn’t look like that. For Marcus and for United, I think it’s best if they’re part ways. He’d be a brilliant player for someone, but I don’t know who.’
The England international’s contract with United expires in 2028, and the team must choose whether to keep him, sell him, or send him out on loan once more.
Rashford will, however, also have a say in what he does next, and it is believed that his representation will not meet for negotiations until at least mid-June.
The 27-year-old is eager to join a Champions League team and does not wish to go to London. After Rashford equalized from the penalty spot, Villa’s chances of qualifying were dashed Tuesday night as they lost 2-1 to a winner in the 94th minute at Manchester City.
Manchester United Is Going Through A Difficult Time
Due to the difficulties of a trade, his team has also ruled out a player exchange with Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze and Villa’s Ollie Watkins.
Rashford’s better play since leaving United for Villa, where he has four goals and six assists in 17 games for Unai Emery’s team, has earned him an England recall.
According to reports, he is content at Villa Park since he gets along well with both the coaching staff and his teammates.
After leading Villa to the FA Cup semi-finals against Crystal Palace at Wembley on Saturday and into the running for a Champions League berth after barely losing to favorites Paris Saint-Germain in the round of eight, Rashford is intent on completing the season there.
