Important Highlights Of The 2025 National Women’s Summit

On March 7, 2025, at 10 a.m., the 7th National Women’s Summit & Expo (NWSE) began in Accra, Ghana’s Grand Arena.

This yearly commemoration of International Women’s Day is the biggest event in Ghana devoted to empowering, encouraging, and honoring women from all backgrounds.

Significant Highlights of the 2025 Summit:

Industry Spotlight Series: This segment showcased the significant roles and contributions of women across key economic sectors, emphasizing their impact in areas such as agriculture and technology.

Affirmative Action Law Implementation Tracker (AALIT): This is a new initiative aimed at monitoring the progress of the Affirmative Action Law, ensuring that gender parity advancements are effectively implemented across various sectors.

Speed Mentoring Session: Designed to empower young girls by connecting them with seasoned mentors, this fast-paced mentoring experience offers practical advice and guidance to the next generation of female leaders.

Women in Agribusiness Industry Mixer: This was held on February 21, 2025, at the Kosmos Innovation Center. It brought together women entrepreneurs, agribusiness professionals, investors, and key stakeholders to exchange ideas, explore partnerships, and drive collaborative solutions in the agribusiness sector.

At the 7th National Women’s Summit & Expo, several distinguished speakers addressed critical issues pertaining to gender equality and women’s empowerment. The event, organized by Charterhouse, featured a diverse lineup of women leaders from various sectors.

Key Speakers:

Joyce Sackitey-Ahiadorme: Serving as the Moderator and MC, Sackitey-Ahiadorme, a communications professional and Agri-Leisure creator, facilitated discussions on overcoming challenges faced by women in corporate and public sectors.

Esther Kyerewaa Twumasi: As the founder of the Chamber of Women in Agribusiness (CHAWA) and a Kosmos Innovation Centre Fellow, Twumasi shared insights on women’s pivotal roles in agribusiness and strategies to enhance their participation and leadership.

Sandra Asantewaa Boafo Agyiri: The CEO of Nana Papa Company and a member of the Chamber of Agribusinesses Ghana (CAG), Agyiri discussed the significance of women’s involvement in agribusiness and the impact of their contributions to the sector.

Enyonam Manye Adjetey: Founder of The Ghanaian Farmer and CEO of Count on Crop, Adjetey highlighted the challenges and opportunities for women in agriculture, emphasizing the need for support and recognition.

Alberta Nana Akyaa Akosa: As the founder of AgriHouse Foundation and National Lead for the World Food Program, Akosa focused on initiatives aimed at empowering women in agriculture and the importance of creating supportive environments for their growth.

Mahama Calls On The AU To Empower Women And The Youth

The summit’s theme, “Accelerate Action,” underscored a collective call to advance gender equality. The event served as a platform for inspiring, educating, and mobilizing efforts toward a future where gender equality is realized.

The NWSE 2025 is more than just an event; it’s a movement calling for collective action towards gender equality in Ghana and beyond. Participants are encouraged to join this transformative experience to contribute to lasting change.
