All Ghanaian embassies and high commissions have been ordered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to set up suitable and considerate circumstances for Ghanaian visa applicants.
Following several public complaints about the inadequate treatment of Ghanaians applying for visas at foreign embassies, this directive was issued.
“The complaints cover issues such as, not providing conducive waiting areas, non-availability of emergency services, long waiting times for appointment dates as well as challenges in using visa application websites,” the ministry said.
The ministry has written to all embassies and high commissioners, asking them to establish the best possible conditions at their visa centers, high commissions, and embassies.
It is anticipated that the foreign missions will react favorably and appropriately to the request.
The ministry reassured the public of its commitment to ensuring adherence to the issued directions, while admitting that embassies and high commissions have the only authority to decide whether to approve visas.
The timing of this initiative coincides with a large number of Ghanaians looking to migrate overseas in search of better conditions.
Foreign Affairs Minister Vows To Cut Down On The Waiting Time For Passport Applications
A growth in visa application centers has resulted from the growing demand for travel services; some of these centers have been accused of putting profit ahead of providing high-quality services. Despite their sincere desire to travel, candidates have occasionally been taken advantage of.
The most recent instruction from the Foreign Ministry is regarded as the first of several government initiatives meant to enhance the visa application procedure and guarantee equitable treatment for Ghanaian applicants.
