In 2025, Belmond, a luxury hospitality company owned by LVMH, will introduce a luxurious sleeper train that will travel through England and Welsh countryside.
Three itineraries will be operated by the Britannic Explorer: one will take the ship to Cornwall in the southwest, another to the opposite end of England via the northern Lake District of Cumbria, and a third will pass through Wales.
The England routes will operate on weekends (Fridays to Mondays) and the Wales routes on weekdays (Monday to Thursday), allowing passengers to combine two trips. All trips will depart from London and last three nights.
Belmond runs a number of upscale hotels all over the world, such as Asia’s Eastern & Oriental Express and the renowned Venice Simplon-Orient-Express.
Each person must pay 5,800 British pounds ($7,460) for a three-night trip. According to a company representative, that includes meals, drinks, including alcohol, and outings.
In July 2025, the new train is scheduled to open.
The train has 18 passenger cabins, including 3 “Grand Suites” and 15 suites, as well as restaurant and bar cars and a “wellness suite.”

British chef Simon Rogan, the head of Cumbria’s three-Michelin-starred L’Enclume restaurant and a key player in the nation’s farm-to-fork movement, created the meals. According to Belmond, the menu will feature sustainable and in-season ingredients from all over the United Kingdom.
According to the company, passengers will pause during the day to visit national parks, go on guided hikes, and engage in “wild swimming” in the Lake District.
The two-Michelin-starred hotel and restaurant Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons, located outside of Oxford, is a stop on the route to the Lake District in the United Kingdom, which passes through the picturesque Cotswolds region of England.
