Following internet rumors that Kamala Harris‘ campaign was in debt by $20 million, US President Donald Trump recently extended an offer of assistance to her. Trump reportedly offered his assistance when Oprah Winfrey denied receiving any payment.
Donald Trump, the recently elected US president, decided to assist Democratic leader Kamala Harris, who is reportedly heavily indebted.
The first rumors about Harris’s debt surfaced when Politico’s California bureau chief, Christopher Cadelago, tweeted about them.
The chief, Cadelago, posted on X (formerly Twitter) on November 7th, saying,
“Kamala Harris’s campaign ended with at least $20 million in debt, per two sources familiar. Harris raised over $1 billion and had $118 million in the bank as of Oct. 16.”
The news swiftly spread around the globe after this was posted. Thus, even though he defeated her in the election, Donald Trump offered assistance, as per reports.
Trump claimed on the same social media site that many people are now “squeezing” the Democratic party, which “fought a hard and valiant” battle in the 2020 presidential election.
He added that he was taken aback by Cadelago’s tweet and mentioned that the Democrats had raised a substantial amount of money in 2020.
His November 10 tweet read,
“Whatever we can do to help them during this difficult period, I would strongly recommend we, as a Party and for the sake of desperately needed UNITY, do.”
Trump went on to say that his campaign had plenty of money left over and that “Earned Media” was the party’s most valuable asset.
The debt Cadelago mentioned, according to Matthew Boyle of Breitbart, was genuine. He also mentioned that Rob Flaherty, Harris’s deputy campaign manager, had been sending the Kamala Harris fundraising email list to those who wanted to donate.
According to a number of other reports, Harris’ campaign heavily invested in “event production” and other related expenses.
Sources also say, Harris also paid Oprah Winfrey’s Harpo Productions more than $1 million for the ‘Unite for America’ event.
Oprah Winfrey is said to have received payment for the event; but the media mogul has refuted these claims.
According to the production company, Oprah Winfrey did not receive a $1 million personal fee for taking part in an online event.
Winfrey was questioned about whether she received $1 million for endorsing Harris in a video that TMZ published on Monday. The TV personality refuted all the allegations.
In fact, Oprah Winfrey has consistently been a fervent supporter of the Democratic Party.
