Internet Connection Disruptions: Telecel Ghana Has A New Extra Capacity For Its Customers

Telecel Ghana says it has secured a new internet capacity and is progressively adding more capacities through local and international partners including other Telecel subsidiaries in a bid to give Ghanaians maximum access to data services.

The company has promised its customers that more services will be reestablished as it keeps on tying down additional capacity to address the ongoing network interruptions in internet connections.

Telecel and other telecom companies lost data connections recently because of various fiber optic link cuts undersea.

Telecel Ghana in an explanation dismissed claims that the web blackouts are a consequence of supposed unsettled debts.

“Please note that information circulating on social media platforms about the disconnection of Telecel Ghana due to debts owed is false and should be disregarded.”

Telecel Ghana has various wellsprings of internet providers through SAT3, WACS, Pro, and submarine fiber that connects to other worldwide suppliers.

On the 12th of March 2024, Telecel Ghana lost internet capacity given by WACS subsea link, and promptly changed to Pro to keep up with service.

However, on 14th March 2024, Telecel Ghana lost internet connectivity from its remaining providers SAT3 and ACE due to a cut in their undersea cables. This resulted in the disruption of data services on Mobile and Fixed networks.

Telecel Ghana has now gotten a new internet capacity and is logically adding more of that through local and international partners, including other Telecel subsidiaries. This is in addition to local caching solutions which are enabling access to some content services such as YouTube, Facebook, Netflix etc.

Telecel Ghana genuinely values the persistence and comprehension of its customers during this period. All customers will be refunded as needs be.

“Please note that information circulating on social media platforms about the disconnection of Telecel Ghana due to debts owed is false and should be disregarded”, the statement said.
