Polls in crucial battleground states have closed, shaping the outcome of the U.S. Presidential election involving former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris.
Trump has secured the electoral votes of Texas and Florida, along with the swing states of North Carolina, Georgia, and Pennsylvania. Harris won in New York, California, and Virginia.
Currently, attention is on four crucial swing states needed to secure 270 Electoral College votes: Arizona, Michigan, Nevada, and Wisconsin.
Harris gained 24 electoral votes from projected victories in Minnesota (10 votes) and New Jersey (14 votes).
These victories were projected after Trump claimed an early victory with his supporters in Florida.
Neither Trump nor Harris has reached the required 270 electoral votes to win the presidency. However Trump made progress by winning after taking over Georgia, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania.
“We’re going to fix everything about our country. We made history for a reason tonight,” he said. “It is now clear that we’ve achieved the most incredible political thing.”
Trump’s speech occurred following his projected victory in the crucial state of Pennsylvania, which positioned him on the verge of securing a second term in the White House.
The speech swiftly moved to the usual topics covered in his rallies, such as acknowledging his prominent billionaire supporter Elon Musk.
“Look what happened,” Trump said. “This will truly be the golden age of America.”
Meanwhile, Futures on the Dow Jones Industrial Average surged over 800 points, or about 1.9%, shortly after Trump was predicted to win over Harris in the pivotal swing state of Pennsylvania.
Both Harris and Trump campaigned vigorously — and invested heavily — in the Keystone State.
Harris dedicated her entire final day on the campaign trail to Pennsylvania, while Trump held two of his last four rallies there.
