Jeddah Tower Soon To Be The Tallest In The World

It’s been 14 years since the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, formally opened to the public for the first time.

The high rise in Dubai, UAE, remains at a surprising 828 m (2,716 ft 6 in) and holds various Guinness World Records titles.

Burj Khalifa was built on 6 December 2004 and was formally opened on December 4, 2010. Its status as the world’s tallest building even saw it accepted into the Hall of Fame.

Nonetheless, from the vibe of things, Burj Khalifa could lose the title as the world’s tallest building. There is another structure at present under construction in Saudi Arabia which even before it is completed, obviously it is much taller than the Burj Khalifa.

Jeddah Tower, also called Kingdom Tower, is purportedly going to be over 1,000 m (1 km; 3,281 ft) tall. The Jeddah Economic Company building will be a mixture of luxury housing, office space, serviced apartments and luxury condominiums.

It is also said that it will house the “world’s highest observatory,” though the University of Tokyo Atacama Observatory, which is the world’s highest astronomical observatory and stands at an elevation of 5,640 meters (18,503 feet), currently holds this record.

The construction of Jeddah Tower is allegedly expected to cost around $1.23 billion.

Situated on the north side of Jeddah, it will be the centrepiece of the Jeddah Economic City project, previously known as Kingdom City, a 5,202,570 m² (56,000,000 sq ft) site of commercial and residential properties estimated to be costing $20 billion.

Construction of the Jeddah Tower only resumed in 2023 following five years of inactivity. However, no timeline for completion has been announced.
