There was a split speculation that came up, but was treated as bogus by the couple. However, Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez have now affirmed they’ve canceled their relationship. It’s formally over for Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez.
On Thursday April 15, the artist and the New York Yankees alum affirmed they’ve canceled their engagement.
The couple said:
“We have realized we are better as friends and look forward to remaining so,” the two said. “We will continue to work together and support each other on our shared businesses and projects.”
Lopez, who shares 13-year-old twins Emme and Max Muñiz with her ex Marc Anthony, and Rodriguez—who shares girls Natasha, 16, and Ella Rodriguez, 12, with ex Cynthia Scurtis—added they “wish the best for one another and each other’s children.”
They continued by saying:
“The only other comment we have to say is thank you to everyone who has sent kind words and support.”
The news comes one month after split hypothesis initially arose.
Jennifer Lopez, 50, and Alex Rodriguez, 44, have been together for three years. The pair actually first met over 20 years ago, when a young baseball star asked for a global popstar’s autograph, and again when Lopez and then-husband Marc Anthony met Rodriguez at a New York Yankees game.
The couple have been dating; and have been inseparable ever since, until this recent announcement.
