Job At Man United Is More Difficult Than He Initially Anticipated?

Rubin Amorim

According to reports, Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim believes his job is more complicated than he initially thought.

The team has already suffered two losses, and United has already experienced several off-field issues.

Amorim reportedly worries that the Manchester United position is harder than he endorsed.

United has suffered a back-to-back loss in the hands of Arsenal and Nottingham Forest since Amorim took over, which is just the second time in his managerial career that he has experienced back-to-back league losses.

When Amorim joined Manchester United, he had won every league game of the previous season.

The Portuguese, however, feel that the position is “more complicated” than it was pitched because of this turnout, Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s unpopular decisions, and Dan Ashworth’s departure as sporting director.

With 19 points from 15 games, United is currently ranked 13th in the table, eight spots lower than they were at this point in the previous campaign, which ended up being their worst Premier League season.

In his five games as manager, Amorim has won two, drawn one, and lost two. However, even one of those victories was difficult, as United had to rally from behind to defeat Norwegian champions Bodo/Glimt 3-2 at Old Trafford in the Europa League.

Even though he has had a mixed start at the club since joining, Amorim maintains that he believes in his players.

Hard running and high pressing are key components of his management style; only Manchester City, Benfica, and Porto had superior defensive lines since the 2023–24 season began, prior to his departure from Sporting CP.

To compensate for his lack of time with the team, Amorim has been attending extra sessions on United’s academy fields.

In order to maximize his time on the field, the Portuguese reportedly avoids holding too many in-person meetings with players, instead delegating those tasks to his technical staff.

Amorim expects his players to stay together and has a group mentality.

‘I think that is a key point for us, and we have to understand our supporters, just in two weeks, four matches, they just want to see effort, then they want to win games and after a while we win games, they will want to see a very dominant team”, he said.

His arrival has helped a few players, but he hasn’t had much time to implement his philosophy during practice.

After his first game as manager, Amorim lamented that his time with the players was being disrupted by media obligations.

According to reports, Amorim will not receive a war chest during the transfer window, and they will probably need to let go of players in order to raise money. One star who might be on the chopping block is Marcus Rashford.

According to Sky Sports, United is willing to sell the 27-year-old academy graduate, but according to The Telegraph, concerns have been raised about his lifestyle and potential for distraction.

After scoring 30 goals in that historic season, the forward signed a new five-year contract worth an estimated £325,000 per week.

Rashford has scored four Premier League goals this season, but he only added eight goals in 2023–24, a season tainted by disciplinary problems. Nevertheless, he is improving under Amorim.

Concerns have been raised about Ineos’ disregard for United’s customs ever since Ratcliffe’s £1.3 billion minority takeover a year ago. In light of this, Amorim wants to create his own legacy, but reviving a super-tanker is no easy task.
