John Mahama Says He Will Focus On The Rent Control Bill In Ghana If Elected

The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has swore to focus on the passage of the Rent Control Bill if chosen as the President in the impending December elections.

According to the former President, his point is to protect tenants from the pressure of paying over one year’s rent ahead of time.

In a Facebook post on Friday, June 28, the Mr Mahama expressed fortitude with the large numbers of tenants in Ghana, underscoring his obligation to further improve housing conditions as one of his vision for the nation’s future.

Mr Mahama attested that under his administration, would zero in on creating social housing that is reasonable and open to all Ghanaians.

“Housing is a crucial need, and my government will work tirelessly to develop SOCIAL HOUSING that is truly affordable and accessible for ordinary Ghanaians. That will be one of my legacies as President.”

“We will also push for the Rent Control Bill to be passed into law to prevent tenants from being unfairly burdened with paying more than one year’s rent in advance.”

“I deeply empathise with the 19 million people in Ghana who are renting and committed to building a brighter future for all Ghanaians, with housing being a pivotal aspect of that,” he wrote.
