Mr. Johnson Oware has been appointed by CalBank PLC as the Bank’s Deputy Managing Director, with effect from January 20, 2025.
Johnson is a successful banking executive who has demonstrated excellence in all banking segments for more than 20 years.
He will supervise the development and growth of CalBank’s corporate, commercial, and retail operations in his capacity as Deputy Managing Director.
Johnson has held executive positions in a number of business verticals, including corporate, commercial, retail, and transaction banking, during his illustrious career.
In addition to spearheading growth in sales, digital banking, structured trade, and commodity finance, he has led business development initiatives in five different countries.
In addition, he has experience in business development, project management, and credit appraisal.
Johnson was the Head of Corporate Banking at Ecobank Ghana PLC prior to joining CalBank, where he oversaw teams that produced outstanding outcomes in a range of business divisions.
Johnson is a great addition to the Bank’s team because of his extensive experience and proven track record of success. The bank’s board is confident that he will be instrumental in advancing CalBank’s operations.

Johnson Oware has an MBA in finance from the University of Leicester (UK), a diploma in public-private partnership from the University of Reading (UK), and a bachelor’s degree in administration from the University of Ghana.
