José María Álvarez-Pallete Elected As The New Chairman Of GSMA

GSMA recently elected new board members and has announced that José Mara lvarez-Pallete López will be the chair of the organization.

José Mara was included in the organization’s 26-member Board for the period from January 2025 to December 2026.

Gopal Vittal will be the Deputy Chair and José Mara Pallete will be the Chairman. The organization, which represents the world’s mobile operators and businesses in the broader mobile ecosystem, will be led by Mr. López over the organization’s strategic direction.

“I am honored and excited to be re-appointed as Chair. I look forward to another term of working together with our talented team to achieve our goals and continue to make a lasting impact. Together, we will continue to stay at the forefront of trends and make a positive impact in our industry,” said José María Álvarez-Pallete López.

Digital transformation, AI, and technological advancements are driving the industry’s rapid transformation. That being said, José María is expected to successfully continue advocating for GSMA members to achieve their goals as part of this transformation.

The GSMA’s Director General, Mats Granryd, also spoke about María’s appointment:

“We are excited to welcome the new and re-elected Board members, and we thank the outgoing Board members for their outstanding support.”

Senior representatives from global mobile operators as well as smaller independent operators make up the group’s members.
