Josephine Anan-Ankomah Named As The New MD Of Ecobank Kenya

Ecobank Kenya’s new Managing Director is Ghanaian banker Josephine Anan-Ankomah, who has been appointed by AEcobank Transnational Incorporated (ETI).

The Bank declared her appointment follows the endorsement from the National Bank of Kenya.

She takes over for Cheikh Travaly, who will retire at the end of 2022 because, in accordance with Ecobank Group policy, she will have reached the 60-year retirement age.

Mrs. Anan-Ankomah would also be the Regional Executive for Central, Eastern, and Southern Africa (CESA) upon her appointment.

She will be in charge of leading and expanding the Bank’s operations in Kenya and the CESA region, which includes 18 of Ecobank’s 33 affiliates and one representative office.

Josephine Anan-Ankomah is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. She graduated from the University of Ghana with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Sociology and a Master of Business Administration degree in finance.

Prior to this appointment, she has worked for the Bank in a variety of roles for the past 30 years.

Following her appointment as a Treasury Officer in 1992, she began her employment with Ecobank Ghana.

She has also held a number of high-level positions at the bank, including Head of the Investment Banking Group at Ecobank Ghana, Managing Director of Ecobank Gambia, Regional Treasurer (Ghana, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea, and The Gambia), Chief Operating Officer (Ecobank West African Monetary Zone/East & Southern Africa), Head of Corporate Strategy and Business Development (Ecobank Ghana) and Head – Investment Banking Group (Ecobank Ghana).

Josephine possesses sharp business acumen and a wealth of experience in treasury management, investment banking, and commercial banking that will greatly benefit the Bank.
