On Saturday, February 15, attorney Kwame Adofo blasted the OSP’s handling of high-profile cases, claiming that the Special Prosecutor had gone beyond his authority.
Speaking to Asaase radio, the private attorney recommended that former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta take legal action against the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) for what he claims is an illegal declaration of Ofori-Atta as a “fugitive from justice.”
Kwame Adofo claims that the Special Prosecutor has gone beyond what is required of him by law.
He questioned the reasoning behind Ofori-Atta’s declaration as a fugitive and contended that the OSP does not have the authority to force people to speak.
“I cannot see what gives the OSP the power to declare somebody a fugitive from justice. This is wrong, it should never have been done. The man (Ofori-Atta) has not been charged with any offense, yet he has been publicly maligned. That is a serious ground for legal action. And I think Ken Ofori-Atta’s lawyers should consider suing him [the Special Prosecutor] personally”, he added
Adofo went on to cite the OSP’s previous cases as evidence of what he believes to be incompetence, specifically the way the Cecilia Dapaah investigation was handled, which was later rejected by the courts. He claimed that the Special Prosecutor’s investigative methodology is faulty and damages the organization’s reputation.

Kwame Adofo continued by saying that the OSP handled the National Petroleum Authority’s (NPA) case in a similar manner. And he believes that when he keeps doing this, people will hide evidence and thwart inquiries.
“The Special Prosecutor is incompetent and needs to be removed. He came into office in 2021, and we are in 2025. Can he account for his stewardship? Has he secured a single conviction in four years?” Adofo asked.
He demanded that the government reevaluate its leadership of the OSP, arguing that the current Special Prosecutor has not delivered on his mandate and should either step down or be removed from office.
