Ken Ofori-Atta’s Whereabouts Remain A Mystery — EOCO Speaks Out

Sammy Darko and Ken Ofori-Atta

Sammy Darko, Director of Communication and Strategy at the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), spoke about the ongoing investigation of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta on Peace FM’s morning broadcast on June 13, 2025. According to Darko, the OSP is still unaware of Ofori-Atta’s current location.

According to Sammy Darko, the former Finance Minister is pushing them in that direction because they (EOCO) do not have the power to leave their borders and travel to another country in pursuit of Ken Ofori-Atta.

Ofori-Atta made this declaration after he had earlier asked to be taken off the OSP’s wanted list and had given a particular date for his return to Ghana. Darko stressed that his cooperation with the investigation was the basis for the OSP’s decision to remove him from the list. The OSP has reaffirmed, nevertheless, that suspects must answer summons at the OSP’s discretion rather than at their own convenience.

Ofori-Atta had been listed as wanted by the OSP in relation to a number of corruption investigations, including those involving Strategic Mobilization Limited (SML) and the National Cathedral project. The fact that the OSP is unsure of his present whereabouts despite communication from his legal team suggests that there are still issues about his cooperation with the inquiry.
