On February 26, 2025, President John Dramani Mahama announced the appointment of Kofi Okyere Darko (KOD), a well-known media personality, fashion entrepreneur, and cultural ambassador, as the Presidential Adviser on Diaspora Affairs.
KOD has been instrumental in advancing Ghanaian fashion and culture, particularly through his brand NINETEEN57 and the yearly “Rhythms On Da Runway” event that features African musicians and designers.
Under his new position, it is anticipated that his vast background in media and cultural promotion will improve Ghana’s interactions with its diaspora.
As the Presidential Adviser on Diaspora Affairs, KOD will concentrate on projects that promote cultural interchange, diaspora investment, and Ghanaians living overseas actively participating in national development.
His nomination is indicative of the government’s determination to use the expatriate community’s capabilities to further the growth of the country.
