LeBron Is Taking A Break From Social Media

LeBron James

LeBron James has declared his intention to take a vacation from social media.

The Los Angeles Lakers player announced the news on his Instagram and X accounts, which were formerly known as Twitter, writing:

“Getting off social media for the time being. Y’all take care.”

James had shared a post from Kevin Durant’s business manager, Rich Kleiman, asking why the media was using “negative takes” when reporting on sports.

Kleiman wrote:

“We can all acknowledge that sports is the last part of society that universally brings people together. So why can’t the coverage do the same? It’s only click bait when you say it”.

LeBron James, meanwhile, has stated that he will not play “until the wheels fall off” and has set a timeline for his possible NBA retirement.

“When the platform is so big, you can make the change and allow us all an escape from real life negativity. I for one find it all a waste of breath.”

The NBA’s all-time top scorer previously wrote that:

“everyone on the internet called me a liar all the time” for complimenting rookie Dalton Knecht’s collegiate achievements at Tennessee”.

Knecht tied the NBA rookie record of nine three-pointers in a single game on Tuesday with a career-high 37 points in the Lakers’ 124-118 victory over the Utah Jazz.

James’s return to social media is uncertain.

The 39-year-old told reporters last week that he was “not going to play that much longer,” implying that he would soon retire.

“To be completely honest. I don’t know how many years that is. If it’s one year or two years, whatever the case may be.”, LeBron said.

Despite turning 40 in December, the B-ball star is still one of the league’s top players, averaging 23.5 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 9.4 assists so far this season.
