Barcelona captain Lionel Messi has been at the helm on the field of the Catalans since he was endorsed into the club. He has for these number of years, been with Barcelona wholeheartedly.
Nonetheless, for a few months now, the player has been in some challenges with respect to being stopped by the club from leaving in the mid year. His superb form has to some degree, dip and has conceded that, this is because of his failed effort to leave Barcelona in the mid year. And that has affected his form this season.
In August the 33 year old Argentina forward said he wanted to exercise a clause in his contract which he said allowed him to leave on a free transfer. But the Catalans refused, saying said his 700m euro (£624m) release clause had to be met. According to Messi, he had issues in the mid year season however he is getting up to speed rapidly game after game.
Messi recently equalled Brazil legend Pele’s record of 643 goals for a club by scoring for Barcelona in their draw match against Valencia. He is idealistic things will change for him soon.
The goal against Valencia was Messi’s 9th goal in 17 appearances this season for Barcelona, who lie fifth in La Liga.
Meanwhile, as per the contract with Barcelona, Messi can leave Barcelona for free when his contract runs out at the end of the season. He will at that point have the option to haggle with other clubs from 1 January, 2020.
Interestingly, Barcelona interim president Carlos Tusquets, feels that Messi ought to have been sold throughout the late spring season for economical reasons.
As of now, Barcelona is in difficult times both at institutional level and on the pitch, which obviously shows that everything encompassing the team now is challenging, yet Messi envisions a turn around soon.
