The immediate former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Godfred Yeboah Dame, should be brought before the General Legal Council for alleged misconduct in the prosecution of Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson in the contentious ambulance procurement case, according to private attorney Martin Kpebu.
Mr. Kpebu claimed that Mr. Dame was awful at coaching a prosecution witness to fabricate a statement against an accused individual.
Kpebu said in an interview with Accra 100.5 FM that he was extremely disappointed in Mr. Dame’s handling of the case and that his actions had damaged the Bar’s reputation.
“The Attorney-General’s role is to uphold justice, not manipulate it. Teaching a witness to lie is a serious violation and must not be tolerated,” Mr. Kpebu stated.
He urged lawyers to take the initiative and petition the General Legal Council for disciplinary action against Mr. Dame, arguing that his actions during his tenure were a serious disgrace to the legal profession.
Mr. Kpebu declared unequivocally that Mr. Dame was “a wicked lawyer” who had ruined other people’s reputations by abusing his position.
He even went so far to call him a “rogue Attorney-General,” highlighting the unethical behavior and abuse of power that marked his tenure.
Mr. Dame’s criticism of the current Attorney-General’s decision to drop some high-profile cases that were still pending in court prompted him to make these comments.
Kpebu argues that rather than challenging those rulings, Mr. Dame ought to answer for his own conduct, which had compromised justice and justice and fairness in legal proceedings.
